Description
Feeding Guidelines
IMPORTANT: During the first week of use, place the blocks about 50 ft. from the loafing and watering areas. As horses become acclimated to the presence of the blocks, some repositioning may become necessary to achieve proper consumption. Move blocks closer to increase consumption, farther away to decrease consumption. If over-consumption occurs for more than two weeks and repositioning of the blocks does not correct the situation, remove the blocks and evaluate overall feeding program.
Feeding and Management
Feed 1 block per 5 horses. This allows all horses equal access to blocks.
Place blocks where horses congregate. Locate blocks throughout pasture, placing them near water and loafing areas. Maintain adequate distance between blocks (10 ft. minimum).
Do not allow horses to run out of blocks. When a block is half-consumed, place a new block near it. Place small pieces in troughs or feed pans.
Adult horses should consume an average of 4 to 5.5 ounces per head daily.
Blocks can be fed to horses in confinement. Exact location of blocks to obtain desired consumption will vary between confinement feeding programs.
Feed as the only self-fed source of salt, minerals and vitamins.
Provide clean, fresh water to all horses at all times.
CAUTION: USE AS DIRECTED. Consumption of selenium should not exceed 3 mg per head daily.
